Public vs Private Courts
On 2ndCourt, each venue can set its courts as Public or Private. The main difference is that public courts can be booked by anyone, whereas private courts can only be booked by approved users.
Public Courts
Public courts are open to all users. Booking limits may apply based on the venue owner’s rules. Currently, users can make up to 2 bookings per week, with each booking lasting a maximum of 2 hours.
Private Courts
Private courts are visible to all users, but bookings require approval from the venue owner. When a user tries to book a private court, the booking pop-up will display: “Your booking needs to be approved by Venue Owner.”
If the user clicks Request Booking, the status will show Pending Approval.
When a private court booking request is submitted, the venue owner receives a notification and can take the following actions:
- Confirm: Approving the booking allows the user to freely book courts at that venue in the future.
- Decline: Declining the booking prevents the user from booking courts at that venue in the future.
How to Setup a Private Court
Venue Owners on 2ndCourt have the option to make their courts Public or Private.
Private courts give you full control over who can book and play on your courts.
Setting a Court as Private
Go to User Menu → Venue Owner.
Locate the court you want to update.
Click the slider button next to the court’s name.
Slider ON → The court becomes Private
Slider OFF → The court is Public
How Private Courts Work
When a court is set to Private, a dedicated Access List is created.
This list contains all players who are allowed to book and play on that court.
You can manage this list in two ways:
Add Players Manually — Click on “ADD USER” to invite specific players to the list.
Approve Booking Requests — Players can request to book your court, and you can either approve or decline their request.
Note: The difference between Public and Private courts is crucial for Venue Owners:
Public Courts → Open for booking by any 2ndCourt user.
Private Courts → Only players added to the Access List can book or play.
